THE FYRE FESTIVAL DOCUMENTARIES AND WHAT WE SHOULD TAKE AWAY FROM THEM

So like literally everyone else on the planet I finally got around to watching the Fyre Festival documentaries now available to stream on Netflix and Hulu. In case you somehow missed it, somehow, the Fyre Festival was supposed to be a luxury music festival in the Bahamas, but in reality, it was FEMA tents in an unfinished lot with plastic cheese on toast and no water. It was put on by a pretty- much-confirmed con man and Ja Rule (for some reason) and was either the biggest con ever or just a giant mess spurred on by pure delusion.

Lexi Williams, the 25-year-old designer, and headbanger behind the startup rave fashion brand “HDBNGR RVWR,” is going to take the festival scene by storm. Born and raised in New York city she has been raving for years and recently decided that I was time to bless the rest of us with some of her awesome designs so we can rage along with her. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and graduated with a BFA in Advertising design where she focused on illustrator and photoshop, but fashion was always on her mind. She decided to create the HDBNGR RVWR after a chance meeting with one of her favorite artists during his New York show.

HOW @MELANINRAVERS IS GIVING BLACK RAVERS THE PLATFORM THEY DESERVE

Melanin Ravers is the kind of account that the rave community on social media, particularly Instagram, needs more of. Started in summer of 2018 on the last day of EDC, when co-founders Serena and Jasmine decided that enough was enough when it came to the lack of representation, Melanin Ravers is one of the first accounts to give black ravers the platform they deserve. “The thought behind the Instagram page {came} from a friend of mine after a conversation about a news clip of a black raver asking to be seen because you rarely see black ravers in the limelight when it comes to EDM,” said co-founder Serena when asked how the account first came into existence. “We were in the car to go to EDC, and I went back and forth about the idea because I didn’t think this page would be THAT popular.
